The Sonoma County Drive and Ride Club (SCDRC) was established in 1937, originally gathering at the Santa Rosa Horse Park before the Sonoma County Fairgrounds were developed. As plans for the fairgrounds progressed, members of the equine community sought to preserve a dedicated space for meetings, events, and social connections. The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors granted SCDRC the right to build the existing clubhouse at the fairgrounds, ensuring its use in perpetuity for the County’s equine community.
Over the years, SCDRC has served as the Northern California Gymkhana headquarters and the northern office of the California Horse Association. The Club continues to host horse-related presentations, activities, and community events, including participation in the Santa Rosa Rose Parade.
Throughout its history, SCDRC has maintained a close relationship with Rincon Riders, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to developing youth in the equine community. Today, Rincon Riders continues that mission while rebuilding its arena in Rincon Valley, supporting the next generation of riders.
